The rumors are flat out insane, so we want to be transparent. 🪩 Yes, we ARE going to open! The assumption that we aren’t is flat out untrue. We moved to own this store- we felt the potential of this place and wanted to be part of it. We’re staying and, we ARE going to open! 🪩 Yes, insurance is paying our wages, including our employees. We are beyond blessed. 🪩 No, we don’t have a date. We are in the mercy of our contractors schedule, including insurance. It is what it is. No hard feelings. 🪩 We are incredibly blessed to have had an amazing GoFund from @madeline.rose.ervin 🤍 The GoFundMe covered the Espresso Machine, gears, and the set up. It’s expensive, but it’s going to be so awesome! In fact, it’s a siiick set up! We are dying to actually use it. It’s like buying a gift but cannot use it because you don’t have a table. We’re getting that table, but with patience. It’s actually not a table it’s a coffee bar and it’s going to be awesome! We purchased our gear locally, and we know it was the move. We did not pocket any of it, we had to pay on top. We have zero need to. 🪩 Yes, we too are frustrated it’s not open yet, but we are reminded that life is only 10% of what happens to you, and we are responsible for the other 90%, how we react. #charlesswindoll Our building is hecka old! 🪩 We are not going to waste our time blaming anyone. What happened, happened. It sucks, but it gave us new perspective. 🪩 No, we have no other updates. We wish we knew more. The rumor mill has been keeping us entertained. All our new updates have been posted on our social media accounts. Sadly, we have only had a few to share. We like to share what’s been going on and hoping to keep everyone updated. 🪩 Now we all know the same things!

We’re waiting for our contractor to do the asbestos abatement. We don’t have a date yet, but we keep finding surprises from our old building. It’s frustrating and tiresome. Our building is over 107 years old, and it sure has thrown some curveballs our way! We want to do it the right way in order for this business to keep kicking longer and continue in its long history of serving the neighborhood. We’ve been surrounded by encouragement, and also hear the discouragement. We know, to our core, we are making decisions while being in the mercy of our insurance and contractors schedule. We cannot control what is not in our hands. Today, we learned to keep our heads up, brushed the dirt off our shoulders, and made some procurement decisions and are looking to the future. Our kids were part of the process. They always have been. One vendor told the kids, “I remember when I was in the same shoes as you. My parents owned a store and I loved coming to these events.” We are thankful for you all and your patience.

Thank you all so much for loving us by support and sharing. We have felt so much love by you all. We have been quiet, but rest assured, we have been working and planning alongside our architect to rebuild Delightful. Not to just open its doors, but rebuild to be more of a community hub. We are taking an awful situation and turning it around for beauty. Our family member said, “blessing or curse- we don’t know yet.” We are seeing this situation as a blessing to dream up, and do by making Delightful the way we always hoped it to be. We are taking time because we aren’t shapeshifters and change/building materials take time. Thank you for being patient with us. We will be back and cannot wait. Simply, because we love you and we miss you.

Hello Neighbors, The artwork, notes, direct messages, comments on post, and etc. have been so uplifting and encouraging to us in so many ways! Our doors may not be open currently, but we are working diligently behind the scenes. We are planning for the Delightful rebuild to bring you a better hub for our neighborhood. We have some major structural issues that need careful inspection and lots of care. We will be back soon. Please stay patient with us. The original parts of our building were built 100+ years ago. Though our building may be old, but we know it has strong bones. We can’t wait to open our doors to start building new memories and to serve this neighborhood better than ever. In the middle of the night, someone rear ended our front doors. Thankfully neighbors and the police were there by the time we arrived. We are so bummed, but thankful for how strong this neighborhood is and being so quick to help, even in the middle of the night.
